Prepare to be inspired
At the age of 20 I moved to France to teach English in a remote Normandy town, and faced a loneliness like never before. Determined to find community, I had an idea that would change my life and career forever. I decided to produce a cookbook and use it as an excuse to pester local families for recipes, hilarious stories and friendship.
French Tarts was accepted by the first publisher I approached, translated into French and won an award. I’ve never looked back. In fact, I’ve contined to live abroad, in seven countries, had 30 books published on topics ranging from computers to portable careers and am perhaps most well known for A Career in Your Suitcase. With a parallel career as a journalist I have published hundreds of articles too.
Since 2002, I have focused on helping new writers find their writer’s voice and get into print. My indie press, Summertime Publishing, has published over 200 books for worldwide clients. I’ve helped people like Maggie, who joined one of my workshops, recognised she had a story and worked with us to publication. And people like Matt, who knew exactly what he wanted to write but need the editing expertise of a team to make his book sparkle.
